Former Member of defunct Akyeame Music group, Okyeame Quophi has stated clearly that he’s no more a religious person due to the nature in which people have belittled the concept of religion.
Speaking on the topic, ‘Who is A Gospel Artist’ on hitz fm Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, Okyeame Quophi used Gospel singer and producer Nacee’s song, ‘Boys Boys’ which featured secular Rapper Guru to illustrate his point, saying a gospel musician is not the one who sings with the involvement of God or Jesus’ name.
To him, any music who lives an upright life and teaches truth is a gospel musician.
“When Nacee preached the message that was missing in the Church, people said he was deviating. Meanwhile, he was on the right path “. – he added
He noted that anybody can preach the gospel and so we shouldn’t make it seem like the gospel is meant for a particular group of people.
Speaking on his motive behind quitting being religious, he lamented that religion has blinded people to the extent that they deliberately choose to do evil things and go to church the next day to ask for forgiveness
“The word says that shall not kill but religious people do not mind killing a fellow and going to church to ask forgiveness, a Godly person will not do that”.
” I have stopped being religious. I am now Godly.” – he ended
