She was called by many as ‘Yaa Asantewaa’ when she personally organized a demonstration against the then ruling party, National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2015.
To her the decision was not a political camouflage, but to was taken by her on behalf of everyone who was going through Dumsor.
According to her, she came across a lot of threats when she staged the Dumsor Vigil.
“I was sleeping in a friend’s house because the threat was too much” – she said.
She was however tagged by many as a member of the New Patriotic Party.
Yvonne however came out to deny the allegation even though she’s been made tourism ambassador under the NPP government.
Today Yvonne Nelson was on Hitz fm Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty and on answering the question as to why she didn’t stage for another Dumsor Vigil when it appeared again under the NPP regime, she said,
“I did same thing by starting on Twitter, but the reason why I didn’t go further to organize the Dumsor vigil was that, the NPP Dumsor wasn’t hot like that of the NDC” – she stated.
