The Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards on Thursday announced the nominees for the 2019 edition of the ceremony. Among the many names, the list of nominees also features 3 African musicians.
The three have been nominated for the Best International Act Award and include South African rapper Aka, Nigerian superstars Burna Boy and Afrobeat singer Mr Eazi.
This year the Best International Act Award combines Africa and Europe which saw uprising singer Teni from Nigeria
This year’s African nominees will be up against South African artist Sho Madjozi, Headie One (UK) Teni From Nigeria, Jok’Air from France and Octavian (U. K) . The winner in the category will be selected through public voting by fans using a hashtag assigned to each artist.
In 2018, Davido walked away with the African award after fending off stiff competition from

South African rapper Sjava walked away with the International Viewers’ Choice Award.
US artist Cardi B is this year’s most nominated artists with seven nods followed by Drake with Five Nods. The awards will take place at LA Live in the US on 23 June.
